This is the first, initial post for Gamer Haven Reviews. Just a little bit about us...
This is a blog that'll be dedicated to reviewing and critiquing the video game industry in the most unbiased way possible, without the injection of platform favoritism or Industry influence to drive us. The two main authors, myself and Andrew Movitz, have been friends since High School.
Andrew is an English Major at the University of Mississippi, and will be in charge of handling finances of our little endeavor as we move to take on bigger and better things in the future. He's a graduate of Bruce High School, Class of 2005, and is a very, very awesome writer. Hopefully, he'll one day have a degree or a writing deal with a publishing company to show us how awesome he is.
As for me, I'm a 911 operator and dispatcher at my local Sheriff's Department and am responsible for dispatching Law Enforcement, EMS, and Fire services throughout Calhoun County when I'm working. I'm majoring in Criminal Justice, with an emphasis in Homeland Security/Emergency Management; I have an Associate of the Arts degree from Northwest Mississippi Community College, and at this moment, I'm working on attaining my Emergency Medical Technician-Basic certification at Itawamba Community College.
Why video games? Video games has been something that has brought Andrew and myself together for years; be it trips to Gamestop to check out (and drool) over the latest console generation or latest new hot title on the market, to just getting down to business and making things explode in Fallout or Halo, they have always been a big part of our friendship. Since 2004, we've kind of looked at the industry and gone, 'Man, y'know, we can do better than these putzes.' Many times, we've tried. Of course, we've never been very successful, but the fact remains that at some point, we've gotta keep trying. So, here we are. Perhaps this is an excuse to just beat dead horse. Time will tell.
We hope that these insights will be interesting for those of you that do decide to follow us!
